Where Have You Been?

I went out to the woods

To say my piece

To gather my strength

To demand an accounting

To bring Him to explain

Why He brought upon me

So much work

So many trials

So much weariness

But the words wouldn't come

So I lay down my head and slept

I awoke to the trees

The forest that I had neglected

And allowed to become strange

And G-d asked me

"Where have you been?

Why have you tarried so long in coming to me?

How I have longed to embrace you

With blessed silence, tranquility and peace

And to wrap you in my arms of sleep

With a resting that heals.
