Our holy Rebbes teach that each of us has a unique aspect of the light of Moshiach within. We feel its presence when we have a burst of inspiration. Just like a small flickering flame in a dark room will have momentary bursts which brighten the entire room, so too, when we feel a burst of inspiration from the flickering Moshiach within us all the darkness seems to fill with light.
And then the moment ends and the darkness pervades again.
But there is a way. There is a way to make it real. There is a way to take that fire and spread it throughout the whole world. There is a way to make it last.
Rebbe Nachman tells us that the secret lies in the power of speech. Our words are vessels which, when spoken from within, contain the precious unique flame of the speaker which connects to and ignites the unique flame within the receiver.
Understand the amazing depths behind these simple words of Rebbe Nachman.
When you have a burst of inspiration and get filled with the awesome light of Hashem, you don't want this experience to end. At that moment everything in the world seems so completely perfect. But you can be sure it will leave you. The experience will end. And you will be awakened by the "reality" of the world around you. The wars, the hate, the doubt, the suffering…
What you must do, when your light is shining, is give it over to as many people as possible. Like a flame, it can keep giving its light forever without diminishing from its original brightness, so too you have no limit to your words. When your words connect with someone who opens to it and ignites the spark within them, your experience will be given life. Even though the experience will eventually leave you, it's now out there in the world and it will never end. The person whose spark you ignited is now out there lighting the spark of others. Like this it spreads throughout the entire world, surely to come back to you greater than before.
All this is hidden in the word Moshiach which spell out mesiach, which means "to discuss". And Pesach, which we all know is the time of redemption, spells out pe sach, which means "the mouth speaks."
When the Jewish people are able to come together in complete unity, expressing and and being open to each others unique aspects, realizing that each and every individual has their own special light to contribute to the overall goodness of the world, only then will we be able to fulfill our destiny of being a "light unto the nations."
Good Shobbas, Good Pesach.
