It hurts worst, Aaron tells us, when he remembers the campfires in the forest. The orange light of the flames would fill the faces of the other travelers with an earthy excitement, and their hearts would open. He would sing songs with them of love and acceptance, tell stories, laugh and cry. Now it seems like that life is over, like all Aaron does is argue about how to understand these technical texts. It feels like homework- all day long. It can be fun to solve problems, but that's not why he left the forest. He's really such a clean, beautiful, pure, joyous soul... but just now Aaron's feeling dead. He can't laugh. He wants blood to spill, tears to shed. He's feeling trapped by expectations. He's begging us: he needs to break out of the lines, to do something where he has nothing to be afraid of. No edit, no rules. Passion: fresh and new. Chaosssssss... Delicious void where he can be taken apart and reformed, find out who he really is. Creation! A sloppy bath of blood and oil, of primal joy and passion and tears - you see? You see this limb of an innocent beast? It's as fresh and bloody as his heart and he's waving it high and finally crying real tears, real prayer. This is how we cleanse and purify, Aaron -- with blood, because we're alive. There's no other way. And, you see, we love you because you feel that real life has to come from a place beyond daily expectations. You feel that the rules are only meaningful when you choose them, and you won't rest until you see the texts filled with the orange light of the flames.
Earthy Excitement
